My problem has often been that I don’t know what to do. BYOB gives actors who feel paralyzed a kind of roadmap to follow toward furthering their career. It helps empower the actor.”
I feel more in charge of my career, and I feel like I have a better grip of the building blocks I need to establish the right relationships to get me in the right doors. The bonus content is great. The material is great. I’d probably say my favorite thing is that the material is ours to use forever. I feel less like the good work is mystically handed out by industry gurus, and more like I understand how a hard-working actor gets employed. Build Your Own Buzz gave me the focus I needed to figure out where, how and why to take my career. Thanks, Emily. Like, a lot.”

It was worth every penny. It was more than I expected. BYOB organized tried and true information, incorporated social media which a lot of coaches don’t really grasp yet, and gave me the structure I needed. BYOB gave me a map to navigate my career.
The homework was my favorite part! I did not passively sit by nodding yes- I took notes and did it immediately. As a former teacher I know that implementing what you learn is the only way it sticks. Also the step by step bonus videos helped a LOT. I’m a visual person so I really loved those.
Since taking BYOB I feel a little like a rock star. LOL I feel like “i got this” when it comes to executing the plan, which was a sentiment that was previously lacking.
With a plethora of information out there, BYOB breaks it down into doable portions, so that we as the actors can actively take our careers into our own hands. No more throwing spaghetti at the wall! LOL. Thank you, Emily!”

Applying what I learned helped me speak with a first camera guy, Erik Brown who was speaking locally at a theatre. He has worked on over 70 movies in the past 20 years and recently was the first camera guy on Tree of Life. BYOB, gave me some outlines of things to say, more confidence to say them, and had a strategy to get my business card to him. I did manage to give it to him throughout the course of a personal conversation after the lecture was over.
I liked the replay factor because often the Q&A calls were in the middle of my day job and I just could not connect with them at the time offered. Loved hearing about others journey, questions – often they were applicable to the ones I had.
Build Your Own Buzz is helping with that “spaghetti syndrome” I’ve had as well as given me powerful organizational tools to stay on track. I no longer feel like I have to conquer the world…like in the next 10 minutes, and I don’t feel overwhelmed. I know what I need to do next.
I would definitely recommend BYOB. It will help keep the career momentum going. When the ball gets dropped, whether be for a family emergency or other reasons, I feel like I fail. So continuing the learning curve as well as applying it to the things I’m working on is extremely helpful. The information contained in BYOB also helps demystify building an internet presence for advertising as well as providing great examples of what works and what is not working.”
