To Do Or Not To Do

by on

I love to do lists.

Seeing exactly what I need to get done down on paper helps me feel less overwhelmed, more productive, and on track.

Except when it doesn’t.

Sometimes the to-do list gets out of control.

This mammoth beast woos you into the belief that you have been productive.  In truth you’ve spent the day making a to-do list.  Writing things down, setting dates, thinking about things you will, one day, actually do.

But not today.

Because that to-do list task really took it out of that.

Let me better illustrate this process in the latest What Not To Do video.

To Do Or Not To Do

Put that to-do list to work by taking action!  It is the key to avoiding overwhelm.

Leave a comment. What top 3 actions are you committed to doing this week?  Name it, claim it, then take action!

Thanks Emily…sometimes a good swift kick in the *** is all I need!

This week I will order my new headshot prints, finally finish my personal website that I started over a month ago, and update my resume with my new agent info.

So appreciate the much needed motivation today:)

To do: 1) Finishing draft answers to interrogatories in two cases; 2) Draft a Motion In Limine to keep junk science away from the jury in a certain case; 3) Research and write a proposed ethics opinion for the State Bar Association; (Do I have to stop at three? There are another dozen things I need to accomplish before the week ends). Love to-do lists. They help me keep what little sanity that remains between my temples.

Hey Wayne! As long as it helps you take action, go for it!

Emily!!!! You’ve been reading my mail. I just joined a group that meets once a month and goes over all our “to do lists” and holds us accountable by peer-pressure.
You have to tell what you’ve accomplished and what you plan to accomplish next month. You are assigned a partner and can work with that partner to keep going. It’s great because on my own my name is Sloth. You are wonderful and I thank you for your wisdom. (and NO she is not paying me to say that!)
